FIND a WAY to WIN at something EVERY DAY

It doesn’t have to be big. Some of the best days are made up of one or more small victories. Those incremental wins add up to meaningful change over time.
Most people, even those who find a calling early in life and never veer from it, have twists and turns in their road to success. It might look like they followed a straight line, but if you look more closely, you’ll see it was is actually crooked.

Steve White

A relentless barrage of “why's” is the best way to prepare your mind to pierce the clouded veil of thinking caused by the status quo. Use it often.

Shigeo Shingo

If you define the problem correctly, you almost have the solution.

Steve Jobs

Don't say it cannot be done, rather say, you don't know how to do it yet.

Tomas Bata

The biggest room in the world is the room for improvement.

Helmut Schmidt

It's not about you; it's about the influence you have on others.

Walt Rakowich

Authentic leaders are real and genuine. They acknowledge their shortcomings and admit their errors, which enables them to connect with others and inspire teammates.

Bill George

"We must combine the toughness of the serpent with the softness of the dove, a tough mind and a tender heart."

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Repeat the words, 'It's not about me!' every day, multiple times a day...Make leadership about the organization, serving others, and not taking yourself so darn seriously. You'll have people lining up to work with you, and the results will follow.

Jeff Harmon

Leadership has got nothing to do with figuring it out and everything to do with feeling it out. It is an awareness, and for so long in my businesses, I, too, was not aware. Leaders aren't born; they evolve. To evolve, you must first be self-aware.

Troy Hazard

Leaders with character are highly effective. They have no need to pull rank or resort to "command and control" to get results. Instead, they're effective because they're knowledgeable, admired, trusted, and respected.

Brank Sonnenberg

When you're leading a new team, honor the new team and its past, and then build them a bridge to the future. Too many leaders inherit a new team and want to share how much success they had in the past and how good their old organization or team was.

Peter Barron Stark

Most people, even those who find a calling early in life and never veer from it, have twists and turns in their road to success. It might look like they followed a straight line, but if you look more closely, you’ll see it was is actually crooked.

Steve White

Leaders find success when they create teams composed of people who are experts in their areas and often smarter than the leader who's hiring them. Great leaders give them room to grow and innovate. These are the leaders who people want to work for.

Tatiana Lyons

Effective leaders understand they are responsible for everyone they are leading and consider that responsibility as their main concern. If you ever lose empathy for and dedication to the people you are leading, you are not being a leader.

Michael Talve

See yourself as a piece of Swiss cheese--know your holes and add others (slices) whose substance, when layered on your slice, eventually creates a solid, firm unified block of cheese.

Richard Avdoian

How I have lived out my fight has evolved over time, because I have grown as a person and as a leader and because my roles and responsibilities have changed. I eventually connected it to my faith, and I’ve made it a part of my marriage, how I participate in raising our son, and how I serve others outside of my work environment.

Steve White

Look at the truth, no matter how uncomfortable...If your product stinks and your people aren't performing, pretending that just ain't so won't change anything. At the same time, don't beat yourself up. Just look at it, address it, and move on.

Katherine Hosie

Never underestimate the importance of the words "please" and "thank you." Using them demonstrates a level of respect that people desire and appreciate, which can help build trust.

Michael Timmes

Be genuine in your leadership. If you have to deliver a tough message, be honest and truthful.

Ray Brock

Sometimes the only way to change people is to change the people.

Ted Weinberger

Leaders must have vision, creativity, and the ability to influence others to follow and support them into uncharted and often risky territory.

Nick Venturella

Stay close to the people who are doing the real work in your organization.

Rick Gibbs

We all have activities or situations that we avoid because we’re afraid or feel uncomfortable. Those are the ones we need to tackle first and with gusto. Embrace discomfort and you will triumph with confidence.

Corinn Price

When a job starts to feel like a job, you should evaluate whether or not you feel you’re aligned with your purpose in life. Not having alignment with your purpose affects who you are as a person and a professional.

Shannon Cook

The journey of success ends when we stop learning new things, because learning is oxygen—it keeps us going, even when it’s uncomfortable or painful, and it strengthens us for the challenges and opportunities that come as we pursue our fight.

Steve White

You can demand the backs and hands of employees, but they volunteer their hearts and minds. Great leaders have the ability to tap into the latent talents and energies of people in a way that unleashes discretionary effort.

Frank McCollough

Most people naturally avoid conflict, so they won’t tell you what they really think unless you ask. Once you ask, they will tell you because you took away the conflict.

Stephen King

If you do what’s right for the individual, you’ll have done what’s right for the company. A well-seasoned VP told me that many years ago when we were considering making some "non-traditional" organizational changes. I’ve always remembered it.

Ramona Bilgram

Managers can achieve compliance from their employees, which is merely getting people to do what they’re supposed to do. But when managers lead their people to truly commit to their work, employees do MORE because they want to.

Dawn Motsiff

Go into every relationship, whether business or personal, with your eyes open and willing to see people for who they are, not who others say they are. Form your own opinions...I truly believe this has helped me work with all different types of people.
